FormatPrep

FormatPrep is a simple-to-use program for converting data files output from the PerkinElmer Wallac Victor2 plate-reader into files compatible with Molecular Devices's SoftMAX Pro software. These files can be read directly with SoftMAX Pro without further alteration.

FormatPrep uses a simple drag-and-drop interface: drag one or more data files (which are in Microsoft Excel format) onto the FormatPrep window and a new file will be written for each one, in SoftMAX Pro format, in the same location as the original files, leaving the originals unchanged. This program is available now for Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

FormatPrep is written in C and Java. It ships with a complete Java Runtime Environment (JRE) so no extra files or software are necessary.

Custom Programming

Do you need a short script to rename a set of files? Or something more involved? If you don't have a programmer on your payroll, or don't have the time to devote to the coding-debugging-enhancement cycle, we can help!

You can choose from a number of development languages if you require (and we can work with combinations such as C extensions to Java or PHP, Tcl/Tk wrappers around C or Fortran libraries, etc):

  • Perl
  • Python
  • PHP
  • HTML, CSS & Javascript
  • Tcl/Tk
  • Java
  • C
  • Fortran
  • C-shell / Bourne shell

Porting Software

With today's inexpensive hardware it's often tempting to upgrade, or switch to a different platform. How do you get that old custom program which was written for Windows 98 to run on Mac OS X? We can help!

We have plenty of experience in porting software between various systems (VMS, Windows, Cygwin, Linux, UNIX, Mac OS X) and we'll be happy to evaluate your code for portability.

Got a binary but no source code? Don't lose hope! With todays choices in hardware, virtualization and even software emulation there's usually a solution. Why keep that old clunker machine around just for one application? Head over to the contact page using the contact button below and let us know what you need.
